The Lying Game (The Lying Game #1)

I had a life anyone would kill for.
Then someone did.
The worst part of being dead is that there’s nothing left to live for. No more kisses. No more secrets. No more gossip. It’s enough to kill a girl all over again. But I’m about to get something no one else does—an encore performance, thanks to Emma, the long-lost twin sister I never even got to meet.
Now Emma’s desperate to know what happened to me. And the only way to figure it out is to be me—to slip into my old life and piece it all together. But can she laugh at inside jokes with my best friends? Convince my boyfriend she’s the girl he fell in love with? Pretend to be a happy, carefree daughter when she hugs my parents good night? And can she keep up the charade, even after she realizes my murderer is watching her every move? (Goodreads)

My thoughts...

Well, you all know how much I love the Pretty Little Liars series! So, being the huge fanatic that I am, I was super excited to read this one. But also, I was kind of nervous. What if it didn't live up to her other books, you know?

But oh my golly was I ever wrong! This book is crazy. The plot twists, while not quite as severe as PLL, are intense and keep you on your toes. The whole book just has an eerie feel to it, and though it's not a horror story, I definitely felt myself getting goosebumps! Shepard's writing, while not the most elegant or amazing, is swift and fits well with the fast pace of the book. Also, I love how the book is from a dead girls point of view! How creepy is that?! And I found myself going crazy that Emma doesn't know about Sutton! I was like, SUTTON, DO SOMETHING! MAKE HER NOTICE YOU! But she can't, and that's the awful part!

Overall...
This book is a winner! It is crazy and fast paced, but with all that same drama you know and love from PLL! Even if you haven't read PLL, I urge you to give this one a try!

As always,
Chloe
